La Boverie and its Musical Emergences
Boverie Museum | Parc de la Boverie | 4020 Liège (be)
Over the course of 10 months, 10 artists and musical projects will take to the stage at La Boverie’s Auditorium for 20 concerts, all of which are completely free of charge. This programme invites the public to discover a variety of musical styles and offers emerging artists the opportunity to showcase their work and connect with audiences at one of Liège’s iconic cultural venues.
This initiative forms part of the wider drive behind Liège’s status as a UNESCO Creative City of Music and demonstrates a commitment to supporting musical creativity and new talent on the local scene.
Two concerts will take place on Friday 20 November at 7.30 pm and on Sunday 22 November at 3.30 pm.
Through his project, François Vanka invites us on a musical journey inspired by the soundscapes that surround us. Whether out for a stroll or deep in nature, he collects sounds and atmospheres that become memories worth preserving.
Armed with his recorder, his ear is guided by the subtleties of the world: a bird’s song in a forest, the sound of water in a lake, the echoes of a cave, or even the sounds of a night spent in a cabin. These are all fragments of life and places that form the raw material of his creations.
Using these recordings, preserved in their original form, the artist composes veritable soundscapes. The sounds of reality then blend with musical textures to give rise to evocative landscapes, imbued with the emotions and memories associated with each place.
On stage, this project becomes an immersive experience, an invitation to journey together through these places, atmospheres and memories.
